Season's Greetings From Douglass!

Dear Douglass Community,

Season's Greetings!

Warm wishes from the entire Douglass family as we embrace the winter season and usher in a new year filled with peace, rest, and hope. We trust this message finds you surrounded by the love and joy of family and friends, sharing the care and connection that make this season truly special.

Reflecting on the past year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our students, staff, alums, and donors who have contributed to the remarkable success of Douglass Residential College. As we embark on a new strategic planning process for the next decade, we are excited about the transformative ideas that are emerging through collaboration with staff, students, alums, and university partners. These initiatives are poised to strengthen Douglass' success for years to come.

Noteworthy achievements include the Presidential Award for Service to Students bestowed upon the Rutgers Advancing Women in Computer Science group, in which Douglass’ Computer Science Living-Learning Community plays a vital role. Looking ahead, we are enthusiastic about expanding our successful living-learning communities (LLCs) to encompass students in the arts, pharmacy and nursing, the Honors College, and other academic fields.

In a strategic move, we have transformed the University’s Center for Women in the Arts and Humanities into the Center for Women in the Arts at Douglass. This presents exciting opportunities for Douglass students and the entire arts community at Rutgers.

Celebrating the vibrant connections within our Douglass community, events such as Douglass Day and Yule Log this fall brought together students, alums, family, and friends to honor the unmatched sense of belonging, tradition, and academic excellence that defines the Douglass experience.

Recognizing the challenges faced by many within our community and around the world this past year, we enter 2024 with a renewed commitment to uplifting each other. We pledge to use our voices to advocate for what we believe in, model respect and compassion both in and out of the classroom and remain open-hearted and open-minded in our pursuit of continuous learning.

A special thank you to each one of you who has generously offered your talents, insights, and support to the Douglass mission. Your contributions are the driving force behind our commitment to advancing feminist education at Rutgers.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

Sincerely,

Meghan Rehbein, Ed.D.
