“I think it’s important to give back to your roots. Douglass gave me a lot when I was here and I wouldn’t be where I am without Douglass. That’s why I come back to share my experiences.”
Alumnae Make an Impact as Panelists at Douglass Career Conference
Douglass alumnae were an integral part of the 2022 Christiana Foglio DC'84 Career Conference. Of the 40+ panelists and speakers at the Conference, over half were members of the College's alumnae community. As graduates of Douglass, alumnae provide a unique perspective to current students. When alumnae share their stories and insight with students, they paint a valuable picture of all that is possible with dedication, ambition, and passion. Hear from some of the 2022 alumnae panelists below on their experience working with students at the Career Conference!

“It was important to be back at Douglass because Douglass had such an influence in my life and in building my confidence as a woman. I was able to take that confidence forward to my career and leadership experiences. It’s important to show students that you never know where your path is about to take you, so be bold, be curious, and be kind.”
“Sharing your story helps save students a lot of energy trying to navigate the world that’s waiting for them. We’re giving them a heads up—a starting point of what to expect. Each person is going to have a different experience, so it helps to share many experiences so they can get a glimpse of what might happen.”
“My first interview experience was actually for my Douglass externship that I participated in when I was a Douglass student. That experience really helped me prepare for my future job interviews and experiences. So, I would really love to share tips with Douglass students that I learned along the way.”
“I think there’s so much opportunity that students aren’t aware of. Creating a bigger venue where students can get a glimpse of the full range of what’s out there is awesome. I’m in communications, and I would have never guessed I could have done what I do now, so I’m glad I can share it with students.”
“I think it’s particularly important to share my journey to becoming a lawyer with current Douglass students so they are empowered with the knowledge and resources to make their paths easier.”
“Driving up to campus was very nostalgic, and to now be on a panel for young students pursuing law, it reminded me I was just in their position a few years ago. It was empowering to speak with students to help them know their dreams can be manifested. It was great to reassure them that I was just like them, but now I’m sitting on the other side. It shows them success is possible.”
“I think it’s good to connect with students. We’re trying to give back to Douglass, and at the same time, add to the empowerment we need for women in the STEM fields. I really want to encourage and provide confidence to students pursuing those fields.”
