About The Global Leaders Program
The Global Leaders Program is a dynamic, year-long experience open to Douglass students who have completed a Global Village course. Through interdisciplinary study and intercultural exchange, students explore how gender, education, and power intersect across global contexts.
Students take two 1.5-credit courses in the Fall and Spring—held on Mondays from 5:40 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on the Douglass Campus—focused on Decolonizing Education: A Global Perspective. This course critically examines global education systems, colonial legacies, and equity in learning. Students engage in collaborative dialogue, hands-on projects, and feminist leadership development.
A fully funded international service-learning experience in early January provides students with real-world exposure to global education systems. During this trip, they engage directly with educators and communities abroad, applying classroom concepts to lived experiences and reflecting on education as a tool for justice and transformation. Upon returning, they connect their global insights to the local New Brunswick community through action-based learning.
