The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Curriculum
As part of your Douglass Curriculum, all students engage with Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) while at Douglass.
Our focus is to foster an environment that embraces and celebrates differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, abilities, perspectives, and more. We aim to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, feels valued, respected, and included. DEI strives to dismantle barriers and biases, promoting equitable opportunities for all members of the Douglass community, creating a vibrant and enriched learning and living experience for everyone. There are many ways that a Douglass students can fulfill this requirement.
Your DEI experince should provide you with one of the following:
- Self-awareness of cultural values, assumptions and bias
- Understanding and valuing others
- Understanding structural inequities
- Interpersonal skills to engage across different contexts
- Skills toward transformation and inclusion
Alternative to participating in programs, students can also attend 8 hours of DEI programming. This is programming includes events hosted by Douglass Student Organizations, and other RUSA recognized organizations that focus on aspects of DEI.
