September 2, 2025 – March 13, 2026The Center for Women in the Arts at Douglass is pleased to announce that acclaimed artist Liz Collins has been named Douglass Residential College’s 2025–2026 Lebowitz Artist-in-Residence at Rutgers University. Her exhibition, Liz Collins: Shapeshifter, will be on view from September 2 through March 13 in the Mary H. Dana Women Artists Series Galleries at the Douglass Library. Join us to view the exhibition during a reception and for an artist's talk on October 16 from 5 to 6:30pm at Douglass Library!
Liz Collins is a Brooklyn-based artist working at the intersection of art and design, known for her experimental textiles, knitwear, and multimedia fabric work. Her bold use of color, abstraction, and pattern explores queer and feminist themes, often inspired by forces like electricity and interpersonal energy. During her residency, Collins will host a workshop, give talks, and meet with students from the Gender & Arts Living-Learning Community, the Institute for Women’s Leadership, and the Art & Design department. Her solo exhibition will be accompanied by an online catalogue in summer 2026. Currently, she has a retrospective on view at the Rhode Island School of Design through January 11, 2026, and has exhibited at venues such as the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, the Tang Museum in New York, the Knoxville Museum of Art in Tennessee, Gallery DLUL in Ljubljana, and Rossana Orlandi in Milan. Her awards include an Anonymous Was a Woman Fellowship, a USA Fellowship, and the MacColl Johnson Fellowship. She is represented by Candice Madey.
