BARBARA TAKENAGA
2026-2027 Estelle Lebowitz & Ann Beneduce-Lebowitz Artist-in-Residence
Barbara Takenaga is a New York City-based artist working in painting and printmaking. She is renowned for her highly detailed abstract compositions, often executed in acrylic on linen and characterized by cosmic imagery, rhythmic patterns, and a sense of dynamic movement. Combining fluid, atmospheric backgrounds with labor-intensive patterning, she creates ambiguous forms that evoke celestial landscapes, natural phenomena, and microscopic structures.
