STEM Careers

STEM Career programming empowers students to explore diverse STEM pathways through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and industry connections that prepare them for future success.

STEM Professional Development with Industry Perspectives

Through workshops, guest industry speakers, site visits, and 1-1 mentoring, this one-credit course (01:556:240) cultivates career readiness, confidence building, and self-advocacy for students looking for a career in STEM. These industry-based offerings include:

Pharmaceutical - Bristol Myers Squibb. Fall semester

Insurance - Everest Global Insurance. Fall semester

Group of business women standing together watching two colleagues shaking hands at the office

As a pharmacy student, this class single-handedly helped me network with pharma industry professionals more than my program ever did. I especially enjoyed having the women’s perspective on the enterprise, which provided valuable insights into navigating a male-dominated field with confidence and resilience. The 1-on-1 mentorship was so personalized, offering guidance that addressed my specific career goals and challenges. It gave me the opportunity to receive direct feedback and advice from experienced women other than my mentor, who genuinely cared about my growth. Through the connections I made and the knowledge I gained, I left the class feeling more prepared and empowered to enter the industry.”

Networking Night and RU Grad School Ready

We host a number of events to help students prepare for the working world, including Networking Night and RU Grad School Ready

At Networking night, explore companies, internships, and mentoring opportunities with representatives from companies around the region. This event is modeled as a speed-networking event where students rotate between the tables of different corporations. Past attendees have included PSEG, Bristol Myers Squib, Verizon, Deloitte, and more.

At RU Grad School Ready?, hear tips and tricks from professionals from Rutgers Graduate Programs on how to put your best foot forward on a grad school application.
