Douglass Participates in Rutgers Giving Day

On June 17, 2020, join students, alumnae, faculty, staff, and friends in a whirlwind 24-hour day of giving in support of Douglass students and programs. Your gifts to Douglass on Rutgers Giving Day will help ensure the future of life-changing experiences for Douglass students. Due to the impacts of COVID-19, many Douglass students need financial assistance now more than ever. The Douglass Difference Annual Fund allows the College to provide emergency funding to students facing economic hardship. Your generosity can help keep a Douglass woman in the classroom.

This year, Carol Sobel DC’68 is generously donating a $10,000 challenge match for Douglass! Please help us secure Carol’s match by making a gift of support for any fund at Douglass. By giving to the College on June 17, you can help students succeed while supporting your favorite Douglass initiatives. Read about this year’s funds below!

The Douglass Difference Annual Fund: Gifts to this fund give the College the flexibility to invest in students and programs, including providing emergency support to students. As a donor to the Douglass Difference Annual Fund, your gifts enhance existing programs, create new innovative programming, provide unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences for students, and assist students in times of need.

Advancing Women in Tech: The percentage of women in computer science and technology fields remains stubbornly low, negatively impacting the robustness of the workforce’s level of innovation, diversity, and inclusion. Douglass offers innovative programs that support women in computer science and tech majors, leading the way in academics, mentoring, leadership, and professional development. Douglass is also working to ensure that students across all majors have the necessary tech-savvy as they prepare to enter the modern workforce.

Douglass General Scholarship Fund: Scholarship support for Douglass students ensures they will achieve their academic goals. With 80% of our students facing financial need, your gifts to this fund are critically important. If you would like to discuss specific scholarship options, such as named or endowed scholarship gifts, please contact our office at drcdevelopment@echo.rutgers.edu.

Douglass STEM Initiatives: Douglass leads the way in advancing women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), thanks to donor support. The award-winning Douglass Project for Women in STEM is known for its intensive scientific research program and specialized STEM living-learning communities in engineering, computer science, and the general sciences, along with Douglass’s highly-regarded STEM mentoring and career development programs.

The BOLD Center at Douglass: The BOLD Center for Leadership, Career, and Personal Development positions Douglass students for excellence in work and life by providing an innovative and enriching set of leadership, mentoring, career, and personal development programs. From the annual Career Conference and externship experiences, to resume, interviewing, and networking seminars, the BOLD Center is preparing Douglass students to succeed in their lives and careers.
