CATALYSTS (Celebrating Achievement, Transforming Attitudes, Living Your Success Through STEM) is a year-long program for Douglass students who are majoring in or intend to major in a STEM field. The goal of CATALYSTS is to bring together similar-interest students to increase academic achievement and feelings of confidence and belonging within STEM fields. Like a chemical catalyst, Douglass WiSE CATALYSTS will work to help others - without losing themselves. The CATALYSTS program exists to provide STEM students an outlet for advice, celebrating successes, and building community. Being Part of CATALYSTS. Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), a leading organization in biopharmaceutical research with a location only minutes away from Douglass, also supports Douglass STEM students through mentoring. The RU-BMS STEM Mentoring Program, a one-year experience, pairs Douglass STEM students with Bristol-Myers Squibb professionals to give them exposure to STEM careers within the biopharmaceutical industry.
We know from study after study that diversity is good for business, and yet we still see profound gaps in representation in STEM. Within B-NOW and Bristol-Myers Squibb as a whole, we’re actively working to inspire diverse students to begin STEM careers and provide the resources they need to continually grow in their fields.
