Directions and Parking

 

Parking is easily accessible in the parking deck behind the Douglass Student Center on Lipman Drive (directly off of Nichol Avenue, turn onto the small street by the Post Office on Nichol Avenue.)

A parking permit is required for all weekday campus visitors.

For Douglass Walking Tours

Get your free weekday parking permit from the Douglass Enrollment and Engagement Office (located in Room 203 of the Douglass Student Center) when you first arrive on campus.

 

For Special Events

Arrangements for group parking are made in advance. No parking permit is needed.

 

Where We Are Located

The Office of Enrollment and Engagement is located on the second floor of the Douglass Student Center, 100 George Street, (Room 203), which is on the corner of George Street and Nichol Avenue in New Brunswick.

For special events held at the Douglass Student Center, you may park in the Douglass parking deck on Lipman Drive behind the Student Center. No tickets will be issued during events and parking is free.

If you are visiting for a tour departing from the Douglass Student Center, you may park in the Douglass parking deck on Lipman Drive behind the Student Center. Once you have arrived, come to the Office of Enrollment and Engagement (Room 203) on the 2nd floor of the Douglass Student Center to obtain your temporary parking permit.

Directions to Douglass Student Center and Parking Deck:

From the New Jersey Turnpike (north or south):

Take Exit 9 to Route 18 North. Take the Commercial Avenue exit. At the second light, make a left onto George Street. Travel one long block and make a right onto Nichol Avenue. Go one block and make a left onto Lipman Drive (right in front of the Barnes and Noble on the left side.) Once on Lipman Drive, make the very first left into the driveway. You will pass a gated parking lot on your left. The Douglass Deck is just beyond that parking lot. Park in the deck and go to the second floor of the Douglass Student Center, which is at the end of the parking lot towards the corner of Nichol Avenue and George Street.

 

From the Garden State Parkway South (from points north of New Brunswick):

Take Exit 129 to NJ Turnpike South to Exit 9. Follow New Jersey Turnpike directions from this point.

From the Garden State Parkway North (from points south of New Brunswick):

Take Exit 105 to Route 18 North. Follow New Jersey Turnpike directions from this point.

 

From Route 287 (north or south):

Take Exit 9 to River Road – Bound Brook/Highland Park. Proceed east on River Road towards Highland Park for approximately 3.4 miles to Route 18 South. Follow Route 18 South for approximately 3.2 miles. Take the Commercial Avenue exit. At the second light, make a left onto George Street. Travel one long block and make a right onto Nichol Avenue. Go one block and make a left onto Lipman Drive. Once on Lipman Drive, make the first left. You will pass a gated parking lot. The Douglass Deck is just beyond that parking lot. Park in the deck and go to the second floor of the Douglass Student Center.

 

Via Public Transportation:

The Douglass Campus is accessible by public transportation. New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor Line provides New Brunswick with both local and express train service between New York and Newark's Penn Stations and Trenton, New Jersey. For information, call (800) 772-2222. SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority) provides train service at Trenton to and from Philadelphia. For information, call (215) 580-7800. Amtrak provides limited direct service to New Brunswick; however, connections can easily be made via New Jersey Transit trains to principal Amtrak stations at MetroPark, New York, and Trenton. Newark Airport is also within a one-hour drive of the campus, and is accessible via NJ Transit.

The New Brunswick Train Station is located at the corner of Albany Street and Easton Avenue across from the Rutgers Bookstore. Cab service is available from the train station. Rutgers University Campus Bus Route "F" or "EE" will provide direct service from the train station to Douglass Campus. A RU Campus Bus Stop is located on Nichol Ave across from the Douglass Student Center.
