Reilly Douglass Engineering Living-Learning Community

First-year women in the School of Engineering now have the opportunity to live in a unique Douglass Residential College and School of Engineering community housed in the engineering-focused Barr Residence Hall on Busch Campus. Students will become fully integrated into the engineering community through hands-on learning, mentoring, interaction with School of Engineering faculty and alumni representatives, and innovative programming centered on professional development and academic enhancement.  Students will also connect with peers enrolled in engineering core courses and have the advantage of tutoring support services provided in residence.  Women in this residential community will become well equipped to succeed in their academic work and in the field of engineering.

Program aspects include:

  • Housing in Barr Residence Hall on Busch Campus with other engineering students while also participating in Douglass Residential College programming
  • Collaboration with engineering faculty and professionals
  • Participation in tutoring, study groups, and peer mentoring
  • Enrollment in a special section of the Introduction to Engineering course only for Douglass women
  • A graduate mentor and peer mentor to ease the transition to college
  • Access to research and internship opportunities

Only first-year women enrolling in the School of Engineering are eligible to participate in this living-learning community.  Participants must take the 3-credit course Introduction to Engineering during the spring semester. This course, only offered to women in the community, will expose students to the different fields of engineering through hands-on projects and faculty interaction. It fulfills the Engineering Orientation Lectures course requirement of all School of Engineering students.

Students interested in living in this community need to select "Reilly Douglass Engineering Living-Learning Community - Barr Hall" as their living option in the Rutgers online housing application through the Enrollment Pathway . Although students will be living on Busch Campus, they will be full members of Douglass Residential College and should choose Douglass under the "interests" section in the Enrollment Pathway

Students are admitted to this community on a first-come, first-served basis and all students participating must complete our Housing Agreement Form.
