The history of Douglass is the history of this country in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Douglass has evolved over its first century, adapting to many changes. It has seen enrollment shifts, changes in leadership, and major shifts in society and industry.
As Rutgers University has changed, the college’s role in educating women has changed. What has remained constant is our belief in the intellectual and creative power of women, and that a women’s college has distinct advantages in educating women.
