Negotiating your compensation package is crucial to closing the gender wage gap! Studies show that women do not attempt to negotiate in comparison to men due to fear of being perceived negatively. This workshop is meant to instill confidence, raise awareness of the gender wage gap, and build skills in communication and negotiation. Other topics of discussion include self-advocacy and determining your worth for freelance gigs.

This workshop will start with a short history of the gender pay gap facilitated by Dr. Yana Rodgers, Professor in Labor Studies and Employment Relations and the Faculty Director of the Center for Women and Work at Rutgers. Afterwards, students will get an opportunity to do hands-on work on salary negotiation. This workshop is meant to instill confidence, raise awareness of the gender wage gap, and build skills in communication and negotiation. Other topics of discussion include self-advocacy and determining your worth for freelance gigs.

This workshop will count towards the Reilly Program at the BOLD Center at Douglass required professional development hours.
