Karin Morgan DRC’21 is a recipient of the Professor Margery G. Grove Endowed Scholarship. Morgan, a double major in Spanish and biological sciences, aspires to one day attend medical school. In the meantime, she recognizes the importance of the Douglass community as she works toward her dream.
“The most rewarding part of being a Douglass student is being able to make such a large school like Rutgers feel a little bit smaller. Before I enrolled in Douglass, I felt a bit lost in the mix," Morgan said. "The College is a gem that offers so much to its students, especially those looking for a career in STEM, but also for those involved in liberal arts majors like Spanish.”
In addition to her involvement with Douglass, Morgan participates in a variety of student organizations on campus. She is the chair of the arts and technology committee for the Orthodox Christian Campus Ministries, as well as a member of the American Medical Student Association, and Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Spanish Honor Society.
Morgan feels grateful to be recognized for her academic achievements by the Margery G. Grove Scholarship. She notes that speaking with Margery Grove's daughter and donor to the scholarship, Margaret Grove DC'71, was extremely meaningful.
“Being a scholarship recipient has impacted my college career greatly, and not just from a financial perspective,” she said. “Knowing that someone thought I was worthy of academic recognition is really empowering.”
Morgan urges other Douglass students to make the most of the opportunities the undergraduate experience has to offer.
“My advice for future Douglass students is to always be looking out for ways to get involved! Rutgers has so many opportunities, being such a large school, so it's important to keep your eye out for the opportunities that best suit you.”
