The Douglass Global Village is accepting applications for 2017-2018!
The Global Village living learning community offers students the opportunity to live and study with fellow students who are passionate about the similar topics of social justice or career related field. Each global village course provides a gendered understanding of the area of interest. The houses include Human Rights, Leadership Education at Douglass (LEAD), Public Health, Sexualities, Women, Gender, and Global Education, Business, and Creativity. Students can also select language specific houses (French and Spanish), as well as cultural houses (Africana), where they can practice their language skills and/or immerse themselves in different cultures. Students participate in a 1.5 credit course each semester with students within their chosen house.
Living in the Global Village gives students the opportunity to take advantage of fully funded travel opportunities, both internationally and nationally. This year two Global Village Houses traveled abroad during Winter Break to on fully funded service learning trips to Mexico and Costa Rica.
Living in the Global Village also means living and building community with others with similar interest and passions. Many Global Village residents go on to become leaders in the larger activist community at Rutgers, and eventually to pursue social justice related careers.
Applications are available at the following link: https://douglass.rutgers.edu/global-village. Living-Learning communities’ application deadline is January 26th for residents and February 4th for commuter students. First preference is given to DRC students in their sophomore and junior years and we welcome applications from others as well.
