8:00 am – 1:30 pm | New Student Move In for On-Campus Students!

Welcome to Douglass Residential College and Rutgers University! Let our DRC Greeters (in red t-shirts) help you unload. Meet Rutgers and Douglass administrators who will join us in welcoming you to your new home.

Begin unpacking and get settled into your new home.

Location: Assigned Residence Halls

*Walking Tour available at 11:00 a.m. leaving from Katzenbach Residence Hall and Woodbury/Bunting-Cobb

 

9:30 am – 1 pm | Brunch and Lunch at the Dining Hall

Head to Neilson Dining Hall with friends and family for an all you can eat buffet. Use your Rutgers ID & swipe for a meal or bring $10 cash.

1 pm – 1:30 pm | Commuter Welcome Session

Douglass Residential College staff & students welcome you to the DRC family! Join us for this special commuter welcome before heading to Convocation.

Location: Karmazin Lounge, Ludwig Living-Learning Center (9 Suydam Street)

 

2:00 pm – 3:00 pm | Douglass Residential College Convocation

All new students along with family members are welcome by the Dean of Douglass Residential College. Dr. Jacquelyn Litt during the Fall Convocation Ceremony, which officially welcomes you to the Douglass community.

Location: Voorhees Chapel

 

3:05 pm – 1:15 pm | Class Photo

Start your memories now! Take a class photo on the steps of Antilles

 

3:15 pm – 4:30 pm | Unpack and Unwind with your Family and/or Meet Your Roommate

Take the time to unwind with your family before you are officially on your own. Also take the time to get to know your roommate in preparation for a fun year!

Location: Assigned Residence Hall

 

3:15 pm – 4:30 pm | Optional Parent & Family Welcome Session

Parents, engage with college staff and students on hand to answer questions about college life. Meet key campus administrators from Douglass Residential College, Residence Life, Rutgers University Police Department and the Dean of Students.

Location: Room 138, Hickman Hall

 

THE REMAINDER OF FALL WELCOME DAYS IS FOR STUDENTS ONLY

 

3:15 pm – 5:15 pm | Rutgers 101 for Commuters

Commuting to Rutgers? Learn the ins and outs of commuting at Rutgers while getting to meet new friends, your Douglass Peer Academic Leader (PAL) and the Dean of Douglass Mentoring, Rebecca Reynolds.

Location: Karmazin Lounge, Ludwig Living-Learning Center (9 Suydam Street)

 

4:30 pm – 6:30 pm | RA Welcome Session for On-Campus students

On-Campus students will meet their Resident Assistant and fellow floor-mates. Please see your RA or PAL for the location of your welcome session.

*Walking Tour available at 5:30 pm for Commuter students and their family and friends leaving from the Douglass Student Center second floor Recruitment Office Welcome Desk (100 George St.). 

 

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm | B-I-N-G-O

You don't want to miss BINGO hosted by the Rutgers Recreation Center. Relax, socialize, eat dinner and win great prizes during this fun (and loud) event! Commuters are welcome to join us (and have dinner).

Join us for breakfast in Neilson Dining Hall and learn more about Douglass from the student perspective.

10:00 am – 10:30 am | Your Douglass Experience

Meet the Assistant Deans at Douglass Residential College and find out how Douglass is designed to help you succeed at Rutgers and beyond.

10:30 am – 12:00 pm | Introduction to the Douglass Course

Join us for an interactive introduction to the Douglass Course and participate in an activity exploring the history behind the common reading, Julie Otsuka's When the Emperor was Divine.

12:15 pm – 1:00 pm |Your Undergraduate School: The Real Story

Learn more about your undergraduate school through a session with current students.

1:15 pm – 2:30 pm | Mary I. Bunting Luncheon for Bunting Women

Meet the Dean of Mentoring and the Bunting Program at Douglass, Rebecca Reynolds and mix and mingle with new and current Bunting women including your Bunting and Transfer Peer Academic Leaders.

Location: Albers-Schonberg Lounge, Ludwig Living-Learning Center (9 Suydam Street)

 

1:15 pm – 2:30 pm | Lunch for Commuter and On-Campus Students

3:00 pm – 4:30 pm | Dean's Dessert

You are cordially invited to an ice cream social at the Dean's residence. Meet, mix, and mingle with other Douglass Deans and staff while enjoying delicious desserts, lawn games, music, and new friends.

Location: Dean's Residence, 23 Nichol Avenue (across from the Douglass Student Center)

 

7:00 pm – 8:00 pm | DRC Age-Appropriate Tailgate

Enjoy games -- like corn hole and horseshoes -- before Rutgers' first home game of the season!

8:00 am – 2:15 pm | Relax and Sleep-In

Relax! Sleep in, and then join your fellow Rutgers students for the University-Wide Convocation Ceremony and Carnivale.

Location: Assigned Residence Halls or Home

 

4:00 pm -- 10:00 pm | Travel to Rutgers New Student Convocation & Carnivale

Chancellor of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, Debasish Dutta, will address incoming students and formally welcome all to the Rutgers University community. Convocation is followed by the outdoor Carnivalé where new students can win prizes, play boardwalk games, sample delicious snacks and drinks, and so much more.

Location: Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC), Livingston Campus
